Recently, we curated an 13-day itinerary for one of our Favorite clients – blending thrilling safaris with personalized touches to create a truly unique journey. This trip showcased the best of South Africa while tailoring every detail to fit their family’s interests and travel style.

Best Seasons to Visit

The best time go go on a safari adventure in eastern Africa largely depends on the region, but the dry season, typically from June to October, is considered ideal. During this time, the weather is comfortably mild, and wildlife viewing is at its peak as animals congregate around water sources and the sparse vegetation makes them easier to spot. This period also coincides with the Great Migration in East Africa, an awe-inspiring spectacle where vast herds of wildebeest and zebras traverse the plains in search of greener pastures, offering unforgettable opportunities for travelers to witness nature’s grandest show.

Born from one family’s passion for Kenya and it’s wilderness, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is today the most successful orphan-elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world and one of the pioneering conservation organisations for wildlife and habitat protection in East Africa.

To date the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has successfully hand-raised over 244 infant elephants and has accomplished its long-term conservation priority by effectively reintegrating orphans back into the wild herds of Tsavo, claiming many healthy wild-born calves from former-orphaned elephants raised in care.

The park protects a phenomenal array of game, including elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, as well as crocodile and hippopotamus in the Mara River. The birdlife is no less impressive, with over 450 resident bird species. However, the true highlight here is the Great Migration, recognised as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World.

To survive the dry months of July to September, some 1.7 million wildebeest, migrate from the parched plains of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Along with much smaller numbers of antelope, buffalo and zebra, they move to the more forgiving grasslands of the Masai Mara. In their wake come predators such as lion, hyena and cheetah, for whom these giant herds are an easy source of prey.
