What Does It Cost to Plan A Trip with Me?

By Annie Chambers

I wanted to talk about how I get paid and what it costs for my planning services. Ick, that feels cringe-worthy to say! However, I run into this conversation with every single client and wanted to address it here since it’s often the first question asked. Simple answer: I am paid a commission by tour operators or hotels.

First, let’s dispel the myth that it’s more expensive to use a travel agent. It’s just not! There is no fee if you want me to help you pick a hotel and book it. In fact, I can add in great perks like breakfast daily, $100 resort or spa credits, room upgrades & early check in/ late check out (when available).

While we’re on the topic of ‘travel agents’. The most common response I get to my job title is: ‘they still exist?!’ Yes, I am living proof! But I prefer different tiles. I like being called a travel designer, similar to an interior designer I craft unique itineraries custom-made to fit your tastes and interests. I also like being called a travel advisor, similar to financial advisor, I will advise you of the best locations, help budget your trip & tell you where to splurge. I even have a team to help with airline miles + booking flights.

Back to working with me and what it costs. I do charge a planning fee* when customizing complex multi-week itineraries. This includes: narrowing down locations and determining the flow of the trip, as well as sourcing the best hotels for your style and budget. An additional concierge fee applies for booking flights, making spa or restaurants reservations, and working with a local tour operator to find the best excursions. The concierge package comes with an online itinerary (also an app) that you can follow daily during your trip.

Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions about services I can offer. I can help with a 2-night stay, planning rooms for your wedding, or planning a 2-week, multi-country adventure.
