“We want a mix of adventure and beach time for our honeymoon.”

After chatting through several options including Tahiti, Mediterranean islands, and Caribbean islands, we landed on BELIZE!

Did you know the Coppola Family (yes, Francis Ford Coppola) has a collection of hideaways? This couple chose a fun combo of Blancaneaux Lodge in the jungle & Turtle Inn on the coast.

Belize is a great bang for your buck if you love adventures in the jungle and snorkeling in clear waters on the beach.

We put together a really nice package for them to include several meals, including a candlelit dinner, a creek cave tour, ruins tour, snorkel tour, sunset cruise, and round-trip transport between the two airports.

BLANCANEAUX LODGE

Blancaneaux Lodge is located in the northwest corner of the 107,000-acre Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve in western Belize’s Cayo District. The lodge itself is nestled on the bank of Privassion Creek and is set among tropical pines, oaks, palmetto, craboo and ancient melastome shrubs. The dense jungle, steep ravines, spectacular waterfalls and fast flowing rivers are uninhabited and home to many rare or endangered species of flora and fauna.

The resort offers 20 free-standing indivdual units.  Each are decorated with interior furnishings from Mexico and Guatemala, thatched roofs, and al fresco living areas.

Blancaneaux Lodge is a leader in conservation and sustainability.  The resort’s renewable energy is generated from the Privassion Creek, and its 3.5-acre garden supplies all vegetables and most fruit for the restaurants. Ideal for adventure seekers and excursionists, Blancaneaux Lodge and its surrounding areas offer endless activities like hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and swimming in waterfalls. Excursions offered include: visiting Mayan ruins, cave diving, and outdoor picnics in parks.

Turtle Inn

Located in the charming, quiet seaside retreat known as Placencia, Turtle Inn offers 25 free-standing individual cottages and villas.  All accommodations are decorated with handcrafted Balinese furnishings, natural wood carvings and Indonesian artwork.  Guests enjoy an al fresco setting, thatched roofs, screened-in bathrooms and outdoor showers.  Villas and cottages are located just steps from the water.  With its friendly, attentive staff, three restaurants, a rejuvenating spa and idyllic seafront setting, Turtle Inn is a perfect refuge for those seeking a stress-relieving getaway.

The resort’s unique location also provides a wealth of exciting activities. The coral reef just offshore offers some of the best diving and scuba in the world, and the dive shop can accommodate the needs of both beginners and experienced divers. Inland hikes to hidden lagoons, canoe trips up the Monkey River and the short bicycle ride into the local, typically Belizean town will also enrich guests’ experience of this magical country.
